Conference Report Overview
The technical conference
was one of the largest in my memory, with slightly over 900 papers presented.
The expo portion continues to show a slight ongoing decline in exhibitors
– but it was still valuable to get around and chat with the suppliers
that were there. Overall conference attendance was on the order of 2,900
people. The chart below shows the upward trend in technical papers over the
past eight conferences. European Turbo-Expo’s attract more presentations
and attendees than the preceding North American conferences. Next year the conference
is in Orland at the Orlando World Center Marriott Resort & Convention

During the conference I
focused primarily on the high temperature / aerospace / IGT coatings &
materials sessions. I picked up a great deal of information from discussions
with colleagues, exhibitors and from the technical presentations. Please
